The construction industry is vital to Romania’s economy, contributing significantly to economic growth, employment increasing rates, and infrastructure development. In this context, in late June, the Government convened a working meeting with industry employers’ association representatives. During this meeting, various challenges faced by the stakeholders in this industrial sector were discussed and addressed.
Despite facing border conflicts and high inflation in 2022, Romania managed to exceed economic expectations, thanks in large part to the construction sector, particularly in infrastructure and residential projects. The construction sector’s impact on Romania’s GDP was 7%, a substantial contribution that should not be underestimated.
As ARACO members, we had the privilege of attending this working meeting, where Mr. Bogdan Pândaru, Deputy General Director of INSPET, proposed a range of issues related to the lack of predictability in the fiscal domain. Additionally, he emphasized the adverse effects of the shortage of specialized personnel on the stability and growth of the construction sector.
