Predictability is becoming an essential condition for energy investment.

Our company attended the ”Eurogas Annual Regional Conference 2026”, held today in Bucharest and organised by Eurogas in cooperation with the Romanian Energy Employers Federation (FPE), under the theme “Advancing security, delivering sustainability: Romania’s role in building a resilient and competitive energy transition in Eastern Europe.”

Eurogas is an important voice for the gas industry at European level, and the Bucharest conference brought together representatives of public authorities, international organisations and the energy industry, including Cristian Bușoi – Secretary of State, Ministry of Energy; Dennis Hesseling – Head of Gas and Coal Markets Division, International Energy Agency (IEA); Răzvan Popescu – CEO, Romgaz; Cristian Signoretto – President, Eurogas; and Daniel Apostol – Director General, FPE, alongside many other leading representatives of the sector.

One of the key themes of the discussions was the need for predictability. At a time when rising costs and economic pressures are affecting competitiveness, major energy investments require stability, a long-term perspective and a framework that enables projects to move forward.

For Romania, this discussion is particularly relevant, as domestic gas production and the development of offshore resources can contribute to the security and affordability of energy supply across the region. This was also one of the central topics addressed at the Eurogas conference.

At the same time, storage capacity needs to be developed alongside production and transmission infrastructure. Energy security is not only about having resources available, but also about having the capacity to transport, store and deliver them to the market when they are needed.

For INSPET SA, the perspective remains pragmatic: production, transmission, storage and modern critical infrastructure are interconnected parts of the same energy system, one capable of supporting security of supply, economic competitiveness and long-term investment.

Beyond Energy: Infrastructure Resilience in the New Geopolitical Reality

The next generation of strategic energy networks will need to be designed differently. Alongside traditional criteria such as efficiency and technical safety, new priorities will become essential, including the protection of critical infrastructure, real-time monitoring, physical and cybersecurity, redundant operating systems, rapid emergency response mechanisms, and the integration of Dual-Use technologies.

We believe in the concept of antifragility – systems that do more than simply withstand shocks; they learn, adapt, and become stronger as a result. Applied to critical infrastructure, this principle means designing networks that can learn from disruptions, rapidly integrate operational lessons, and continuously improve their security, resilience, and performance.

The Economics of Risk and the New Strategic Role of Natural Gas

A country can withstand an energy shock if it has sufficient reserves. It becomes truly resilient when those reserves allow it to turn a crisis into an advantage: buying when prices are low and providing stability to the region when others are under pressure. This is the difference between simply surviving a crisis and emerging from it in a stronger position.

Natural gas storage capacity has become one of the most important indicators of this resilience in recent years, and Romania has the potential to become a regional hub in this field.

We find these topics particularly relevant because the same principle applies far beyond the energy sector: the value of a resource depends on how prepared we are to use it exactly when it is needed. At INSPET, we have contributed directly to Romania’s natural gas infrastructure through the development of the Bilciurești natural gas storage facility, the largest in Romania, including the construction of the Group 145 Triethylene Glycol (TEG) Natural Gas Dehydration Station for Depogaz Ploiești.

Our company’s activity is closely connected to strategic infrastructure projects in the energy sector, as well as to ongoing dialogue with the business community. In this context, as an active member of AmCham Romania, we participated in the AmCham Romania Annual General Meeting 2026.
